I am currently pursuing a PhD at MIT in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I am interesting in using computational optimization methods to improve the material efficiency of concrete structures. Concrete is the most widely used manufactured substance in the world, and is responsible for 8% of anthropogenic Carbon Dioxide emissions globally. Reducing the volume of concrete we use would be instrumental in achieving our climate goals. To this end, I am researching topology optimization methods to design low-volume concrete structures that could reduce Carbon emissions from the building industry.
